Gaya Street Sunday Market
This must see market offers a wide variety of local products such as traditional handicrafts, textiles and food. Every Sunday morning, the whole stretch of Gaya Street is closed off to make way for the market, operating from 6am – 1pm.
Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park
This park is made up of five islands and is a popular spot for snorkelling and diving, as the waters are home to a wide variety of marine life.
Sabah State Museum
The museum is the perfect place to learn about the history and culture of Sabah. It features a wide range of exhibits, including traditional weapons, musical instruments, and ethnographic items, with a good collection of Sabah’s traditional houses too.
Climb Mount Kinabalu
This is the highest mountain in Southeast Asia and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It offers challenging hikes and breathtaking views from the summit. More info here.

Kota Kinabalu is surrounded by beautiful islands that are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling,such as Manukan, Sapi, Gaya, Mamutik.
See the Proboscis Monkeys
These monkeys are found only on the island of Borneo and have distinctive large nose, which can be observed in a nearby island, Labuk bay Proboscis monkey sanctuary. More info here.
Go on a wildlife safari
The Kinabalu Park and its surrounding area are home to a wide variety of wildlife, including orangutans, pygmy elephants, and the Bornean clouded leopard. Visitors can take a guided safari tour to see these animals in their natural habitat.
